Indonesian Language Education Study Program, UMM – Students of the Indonesian Language Education Study Program FKIP UMM played an active role in the Malang City Literature Festival which started from 19 to 22 October, at Kedai Kopi Tani, Dau Malang.
Various kinds of activities, ranging from book reviews, book bazaars, literary seminars, theater performances, to musicals take place at the Festival. Students from the UMM PBI Teacher Training and Education Study Program are active in participating in book discussion discussions, reading literature, and even attending literature seminars.
Muhammad Ilham Zakaria, a student at the PBI FKIP Study Program at Muhammadiyah University in Malang, who took part in the discussion and book review, said that this literature festival was very positive and useful, especially for language and literature students. "I came here with PBI UMM friends from various classes, starting from the 2018 to 2023 class. Coincidentally, for this book review event, the speaker was our lecturer, namely Mr. Candra," he said.
Not only taking part in discussions and book reviews, FKIP Indonesian Language Education Study Program students also appeared to read poetry. M. Rifki Kurniawan appeared to read a poem entitled Sajak Sebatang Lisong by W.S. Rendra in front of dozens of spectators who attended the Malang City Literature Festival.
The participation of students from the PBI FKIP UMM Study Program is a form of enthusiasm to revitalize the literary climate in the city of Malang which was suspended due to the pandemic. The hope is that through this activity, it will spark other activities related to the fields of education and literature.
